BRIMHAM

-Some of the footage from the last couple of weeks - Hopefully it will be put towards a sequel to last years 'May Vid'. I will either put the footage from Brimham up later or make a little vid out of it.

Training has been good the last few days but because it has been so good I have been very tired when I got home and have been unable to get even slightly close to completing my daily conditioning. I guess it is a good thing in a way, but I still would have liked to keep to my set ammount every day. No big loss, I am not doing too much today and so should get at least the minimum done.

The Weekend of training started on Thurseday for me, I met Joe in Wakefield and we had a reet session. Doing lots of jumps and arm jumps at the subway with new found ease to start with, then worked our way around to the girls high where we traversed a new wall which was cool as it was just challenging enough to be good. We then had police question us about an attempted break in for quarter of an hour before we moved on to do a bit of stuff at the flats. Joe managed to do some pretty decent wallflips for the first time in months (since he started landing REALLY badly from them) - good for him, I practised a few flicks as well before we got kicked off by two grannies. We ended up exploring the hospital roof which we hadn't really gone near before and we found some really cool stuff and had a gay ol' time.

Friday I did another good session in the gym incresing the weight on a lot of movements and getting close to my previous best. I then attempted some tricking but failed miserably at getting any better at sides - the wind was actually a problem. I did get a bit more confidense with flicks though.

Saturday came and I headed into town after work only for it to absolutely piss it down on the way there. It was just starting to dry up when I met with Ben the photographer and we headed off to meet the others. We were followed by a bunch of chavvy noobs who we couldn't drop and they kept flipping off things just to get a photo taken - really quite annoying! Because they were jumping about all over the place we got seen on the way into the uni (where we were meant to meet the others) and then spent the next thirty minutes going around in circles. It then pissed it down again and Ben left. Not a great start, but after that Ed and Jamie turned up and the first thing we did was dry off some newly found scaffolding where we had a good little session as the bars were not all equally separated and things like most scaffolding. From then on the day was good, even though we had some heavy showers it didn't take too long to dry up enough to get some decent training done, and I am finding training in the wet quite interesting these days anyway. We did some cool stuff at the council estate flats and then finished with some cool flips/tricking on the grass outside the church - I managed to link a back layout (not a full layout - just untucked really) straight into a flick - the start of better tumbeling for me I believe.

Sunday was Brimham. Me, Ben, Joe, Alex all hitched a ride with Jim in his car to Brimham Rocks. I have trained on the rocks at Ilkley (moors) and at Grindleford (peaks) but these out-classed them both. We spent all day doing precisons, arm jumps, running jumps, running arm jumps and climbing with the odd vault thrown in for good measure. It was the best training session I have had in a long time and anyone able to get there needs to! A mear fifty minutes or so from Leeds! A place I will definately be going back to as often as possible.

I was expecting to be very sore and stiff the day after and I was even saying to the guys that it will be good when we get our bodies to a point where we can wake up the next day after a session like this with no aches or pains. To my surprise I woke up with barely an ache on my body and feeling better than I did the previous morning! It was a good feeling to know how far my body has come since I last trained in that way for so long. The last time was a year ago on the peaks trip and I suffered so badly the next day that I could barely do anything for 80% of it. Pleasing.

As I was feeling so good I had to go train and the only person who was also free was Fred in Halifax. I thought why not - I hadn't trained in Halifax properly before and I hadn't seen Fred in ages. Took me about 80mins in total to get there but the weather was nice and it was well worth it. I soon realised that even though I wasn't sore, I was still very tired from Brimham and it took me a while to get into the swing of things. We spent most of the day doing lots of precisions, arm jumps, scaling and a few large cat passes. The only bad thing about the day was when I attempted a running jump of the top of a few stairs onto a rail a few feet from the bottom of them. I jumped fine and was aiming just to bounce off and land the other side but for what ever reason I managed to land with the very tip of my toes on the rounded bar. Needless to say I slipped and the bar worked its way up my shins bruising and grasing them badly as I went face first over the top. Luckily I avoided any injury other than on my shins - but I have to say it was the worst pain I can remember for a long time - took me an hour to stop limping! I got over that though and the thing that bothered me was how I bailed. I didn't underjump and should have easily placed my feet correctly on the rail. I was focused and although I can't remember too much about it, I do know I wasn't looking at anything else but the rail. So how did I bail so bad? I really shouldn't be making errors like that after training for so long. It has been a very long time since I have done anything of the sort, and it worries me I am still capable of fucking up so bad.
Caution is needed I guess.

Peace

I definately learnt from it :P

Shame you couldn't make Ilkley - It's a cool place to train!
