Hows Tricks...

Today I, and a lot of the other traceurs from Leeds, went to a gym in Sheffield. I started the day by having to run from the bus station to the train station in Leeds on the account of my bus being late as usual. The distance is only like half a mile or less but considdering the pistols I did last night, it wasn't a nice way to start the day.

About a dosen of us arrived in sheffield with time to spare so we tried a spot of training at Hallam Sq but sadly it was too wet for anything so we headed off on the 30 min walk to the gym.

The gym session was 4 hours long but because my legs were so tired I spent over an hour talking/resting/filming. I enjoyed it non the less and improved upon a few flips - I can now land backtucks without the use of my hands but they still need a lot of work! I drilled a few sides and double legs, but again they still need a lot of work. The only thing I didn't get to do (in terms of flips) was two step wall flips. I wanted to get some practise doing them in the gym but I only had a couple of short oppotunities to try them and I wasn't feeling up to focusing on something like that.

The day wasn't all flips! We set up a couple of boxxes and drilled a few cat pass - precisions, double cat passes and other vault variations all with split foot take off, of course - the more practise, the better! After that we set up a box next to some wall bars to cat pass - arm jump, with variations again (we had a thick mat covering the bottom of the bars to land out feet on). We started way too small but the others soon got up to pace and realised how far they can actually do this combo', as most of them haven't yet had much experiance doing it outside yet - give it time.

We finished by attempting a 12 foot standing arm jump from a box to the bars. We were aiming at a bar that was about 18 inches above the level of the box, so it was pretty damn huge and just out of my range. I had two attempts, I committed fully both times and both times just got my figers to the bars but not enough to stop me falling back onto my ass! A few of the guys did it though, one of which was was Will, who made it look relatively easy, but then he has at least a years experiance on everyone else. [EDIT: Apparently Will doesn't have that much more experiance than the rest of us, he is just very impressive and gives this impression - "Go Will" I say!] The others who did it either had a larger standing jump to start with or were taller than most. From which I conclude it was my body holding me back, not so much my ability. I wouldn't say this is new to me at all, but it is a new realisation of how far I have to push myself, to better myself.

To keep up with the home conditioning I do, I have done 100 press ups and 50 dips since I got home... Just for shits and giggles really!

All in all, a good day -

Peace Always

Challenge

I was planning on doing some parkour today, the weather forcast last night looked pretty good and I didn't hit the booze too heavily. So I woke up this morning, looked outside, only to find the darkest clouds ever in the sky. Needless to say it started to rain within the hour *sighs*.

I am not, however, going to let it dampen (yeah excuse the pun) my spirits, and have set myself a Vigroux'esk' challenge. I plan on doing 500 pistol squats from now until I sleep tonight. I haven't got much of a clue of how long this is going to take me but I will be taking it easy doing 10 at a time (5 on each side). 500 is no 1000 but I have never attempted more than 100 squats before so 500 seems a fair aim.

I will edit this post either later on today (tonight) or tomorrow to let you know how I got on...

Peace for now!

I DID IT!
I finished at 1 in the morning and my quad's and lower/mid back are killing me, but I don't think it was in vain. I really got into it half way through and loved concentration on bettering my technique. I started doing sets of 10, like I planned but soon realised that I could easily double that number with each set, so I did. I did a set of 10 on each leg every 5-7 mins. The reason it took me so long to complete was because I had a period of 3 hours where instead of doing squats, I ate, walked my dog tuck a bath etc.
Anyway I'm blabbing... I enjoyed the challenge and will probably try 1000 some time soon.

Peace Y'all
